Antibodies flow, and are confined within, the capillary lumen (left). In the tumorous capillary (right) some antibodies can escape through fissures in the endothelial wall and attach themselves to receptors on pericytes (a type of cell that helps give structure to the walls of blood vessels) and adjacent tumor cells in the surrounding tissue.
